Statement by International Association of Friends of Crimea

International Association of the Friends of the Crimea, which unites representatives of the civil society in more than 30 countries, believes that the summit of the so-called "International Platform on the De-Occupation of Crimea", which was held on August 23 this year in Kiev, is another anti-Russian demarche and is a direct threat to peace and humanity.

This initiative has been artificially turned into a global anti-Russian project of open confrontation of NATO countries with Russia. Its purpose is to support terrorist activities on the part of the illegitimate regime in Kiev against the people of Crimea, who made their legal and voluntary choice eight years ago in favor of reunification with Russia.

The presence at the anti-Russian political gathering of the UN Secretary General, Mr. António Guterres, is extremely surprising. His speaker slot on the list after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and EU President Charles Michel emphasizes the bias of the UN Secretary General, acting as an advocate of NATO and the EU, rather than an independent representative of the international community of states.

It is obvious to us that the event reflects the complete indifference of Western political circles to the fate of their own population and the withdrawal of the Western establishment from the needs of the people of their own countries, whose living standards have been sharply reduced by the sanctions against Russia - illegal and contrary to the rules of international trade. Instead of caring about their own population, they support Ukrainian ultra-radicals, driving the entire world into the abyss of an unprecedented economic crisis. They openly declare an insane desire to place NATO military bases in Crimea. The same form of unambiguous aggression is the military support by European states and some other countries of the world participating in the "platform" of the idea of the forcible "liberation" of Crimea and its alienation from Russia, which is practically equivalent to the declaration of war by NATO countries to the world nuclear power, that is, a slide into the abyss of a nuclear disaster.

It should be understood that the steps taken by Russia to strengthen its defense and protect its national interests are a legitimate response to the threat posed by NATO, which is unacceptable to Russia near its borders. One should not expect that in case of a threat of an attack on its vital territory, Russia will be frightened and will not respond resolutely. That is not the historical experience of this country and its people, who have lived through many wars and conflicts. Washington and Brussels must understand that Russia will not leave Ukraine as its historical part hostage to the U.S. and NATO.

The peoples of Europe, and especially the post-Soviet countries, are also well aware of this. They have relevant historical experience, having gone through the severe suffering and anguish of World War II. For ordinary Europeans, the very thought of a new war, especially a nuclear one, seems criminal. They also remember another crucial lesson of the past war: it must be fought before it is unleashed by the aggressor, by joining the efforts of all those who care about peace.

in connection therewith we call on the world community to openly oppose the destructive course of the US, EU and NATO politicians, who are leading the world and humanity to a nuclear disaster.

Заявление Международной ассоциации друзей Крыма

Международная ассоциация друзей Крыма, объединяющая представителей гражданского общества более чем в 30 странах мира, считает, что саммит так называемой “Международной платформы по деоккупации Крыма”, прошедший 23 августа т. г. в Киеве, является очередным антироссийским демаршем и несет прямую угрозу миру и человечеству.

Эта инициатива искусственно превращена в глобальный антироссийский проект открытой конфронтации стран НАТО с Россией. Его задача - поддержка террористической деятельности со стороны нелигитимного режима в Киеве в отношении народа Крыма, сделавшего восемь лет назад свой законный и добровольный выбор в пользу воссоединения с Россией.

Вызывает крайнее удивление присутствие на антироссийском политическом сборище генерального секретаря ООН господина Антониу Гуттериша. Его место в списке выступающих после генерального секретаря НАТО Йенса Столтенберга и президента ЕС Шарля Мишеля подчеркивает предвзятость генерального секретаря ООН, выступающего в роли адвоката НАТО и ЕС, а не независимого представителя международного сообщества государств.

Нам очевидно, что мероприятие отражает полное безразличие политических кругов Запада к судьбе собственного населения и оторванность западного истеблишмента от нужд людей их собственных стран, уровень жизни которых резко снизился из-за незаконных и противоречащих правилам международной торговли санкций против России. Вместо заботы о собственном населении они поддерживают украинских ультрарадикалов, загоняя весь мир в пропасть невиданного экономического кризиса. Они откровенно заявляют о безумном стремлении разместить в Крыму военные базы НАТО. Такой же формой недвусмысленной агрессии является военная поддержка государствами Европы и ряда других стран мира, участвующих в «платформе», идеи насильственного «освобождения» Крыма и его отторжения от России, что практически равносильно объявлению войны мировой ядерной державе странами НАТО, то есть скатыванию в пропасть ядерной катастрофы.

Надо понимать, что принимаемые Россией шаги по укреплению своей обороны и защите своих национальных интересов - это законный ответ на создаваемую НАТО неприемлемую для России угрозу у её границ. Не стоит рассчитывать, что в случае угрозы нападения на её жизненно важную территорию Россия испугается и не даст решительный ответ. Не таков исторический опыт этой страны и ее народа, пережившего немало войн и конфликтов. Вашингтон и Брюссель должны понять, что Россия не оставит в заложниках США и НАТО Украину, как свою историческую часть.

Народы Европы, и особенно стран постсоветского пространства, это также хорошо понимают. Они имеют соответствующий исторический опыт, пройдя через тяжкие страдания и муки второй мировой войны. Для простых европейцев сама мысль о новой войне, тем более ядерной, представляется преступной. Они помнят и другой важнейший урок минувшей войны – бороться против нее нужно до того, как она будет развязана агрессором, объединив усилия всех, кому дорог мир.

В этой связи мы призываем мировую общественность к открытому противодействию гибельному курсу политиков США, ЕС и НАТО, ведущих мир и человечество к ядерной катастрофе!
