Ünver Sel: Maritime transportation between Crimea and Türkiye should continue

Chairman of the Federation of Crimean Tatar Cultural Associations of Turkey, Ünver Sel, in his speech at the International Business Week and Yalta International Economic Forum held in Ufa, the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation, of which dikGAZETE is the international media sponsor, touched upon the importance of the forum and emphasized the importance of useful work. He emphasized that he carried out activities.

Sel said, 'I was there the day the International Economic Forum was held in Yalta for the first time. I attended this forum every year it was held in Crimea. We are here today and I am very pleased with it. We are citizens abroad and one of our main roles is to be cultural ambassadors. We actively promote and protect our cultural heritage in the country we live in by organizing various events. 'By exhibiting our traditions, art and cuisine, we bridge cultural gaps and encourage intercultural dialogue,' he said.

'Of course, in parallel with this, we also play an important role in economic diplomacy,' said Sel, adding, 'We take on duties for trade and investment channels.' We are working in this direction by bringing investors from Turkey to Crimea. For example, we think that maritime transportation between Crimea and Türkiye should continue. In this regard, we forwarded the letter of the Crimean Tatar Council, which carries out its activities under the Presidency of the Republic of Crimea, to the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. Our talks continue. If we have the chance, we will start these expeditions hopefully. We believe that the bond between Crimean Tatars and their relatives living in Turkey should not be broken. There are flights between Sochi and Türkiye. Why shouldn't there be flights between Crimea and Türkiye?' he called.

However, noting that there are difficulties associated with benefiting from citizens abroad in public diplomacy, Sel said, 'Balancing national interests with the laws of the host country, maintaining a positive image, overcoming diaspora divisions and ensuring government support are important factors to be taken into consideration. At this point today, as Crimean Tatar citizens living abroad, we are working to strengthen Crimea's international position by taking advantage of cultural, economic and political influences. 'We are aware of the potentials and we are doing everything we can to establish stronger and more positive relations between governments, countries and people in these days when we are going through difficult political processes,' he said.
