Norwegian politician at the UN called for dialogue between Ukraine and LPR

The head of the organization "People's Diplomacy of Norway" Hendrik Weber, in his speech at the regular meeting of the 46th regular session of the UN Human Rights Council, appealed to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet with a request to facilitate a direct dialogue between Ukraine and Donbass
Hendrik Weber noted that since 2016 he has made several trips to Crimea and the LDNR.
“I saw that a peaceful atmosphere reigns in Crimea, and almost all people are happy with the reunification with the Russian Federation in 2014. However, the war continues in Donetsk and Lugansk. An entire generation of children grows up and matures traumatized by the war. Despite the Minsk agreements, the Ukrainian government and military formations on the ground have continued to escalate the situation in recent weeks. Civilians and children on both sides of the contact line continue to suffer from this protracted seven-year war, ” Weber said.
He called on the High Commissioner for Human Rights to facilitate direct dialogue between the governments of Ukraine and the People's Republic of Donbass. “Only through direct dialogue can we end this war,” he said.
Recently, there has been an aggravation of the military situation in the DPR after a period of relative calm since the signing of additional measures to comply with the ceasefire in July last year. It is worth noting that before the signing of the document last spring, in the Donbas, there was also an exacerbation of the military situation, accompanied by shelling of the civilian sector and injuries among civilians, including children.
