Raymond McGovern is a former Central Intelligence Agency officer turned political activist. McGovern was a CIA analyst from 1963 to 1990, and in the 1980s chaired National Intelligence Estimates and prepared the President's Daily Brief

Ray McGovern discusses various aspects of Vladimir Putin's background and the changing narrative surrounding Russia. He highlights Putin's humble origins and resilience, as well as his efforts to join the West and his disappointment at being rebuffed. McGovern also examines the triangular relationship between the US, Russia, and China and how it is impacting international dynamics. He discusses Russia's concerns over the deployment of missile sites in Romania and Poland by the US. McGovern suggests that Russia's actions in Ukraine were motivated by a perceived threat and the need to protect its interests. He also addresses misinformation and corruption within the US political system and the media's role in perpetuating false narratives about Russia. Overall, McGovern portrays Putin as a measured, well-informed, and intelligent leader, challenging the demonization of him by the mainstream media.
