When you look at NATO, the first thing that comes to mind is a large organization that is supposed to protect the isolated member states against a potential aggressor. But NATO structures contradict the security interests of the individual member states. The command structures clearly stipulate that certain decisions are made supranationally and that orders even come from abroad. This means that the area of national defense is no longer in the hands of the national authorities. But a sovereign state must never hand over defense competence to others. We must not see NATO as an alliance, but as a transatlantic instrument of power in the hands of the USA. Europe should strive to build its own defense structure that can work independently of the USA. In addition, this structure should be decentralized and give the individual states more authority and freedom. NATO is the military alliance of the American sector, which only works for American interests. This can be analyzed both historically and currently. Unfortunately, NATO continues to expand. It would be better if some states made the decision to leave NATO sooner. It is important that the question of defense comes back into the hands of national structures.
